Mr Ippokratis Pountos
Mr Ippokratis Pountos is an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery. Following the completion of his orthopaedic certification, Mr Pountos was further fellowship trained in Leeds University Teaching Hospitals, one of the busiest and most respected trauma and elective centres in the United Kingdom. Together with his Fellowship in the United Kingdom, Mr Pountos trained in the Atos Clinic in Heidelberg (Germany), a renowned center in the reconstruction of Complex Foot and Ankle conditions.
Mr Pountos has vast experience in the treatment of a variety of foot and ankle problems and injuries. Over they years, Mr Pountos developed a special interest in the management of foot and ankle deformities either developmental nature or secondary to other conditions diabetes, neuromuscular disorders etc. In addition he performs cutting-edge procedures such as Total Ankle Replacement, Arthroscopic joint fusion, treatment of non-unions and management of ligament or tendon injuries.
Another interest and specialty of Mr. Pountos is arthritis of the big toe, which can be treated both operatively and non-operatively. Patients could also seek out Mr Pountos for biological alternatives to surgery such as stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow and adipose derived stem cell injections. Mr Pountos believes in joint preservation surgery for the active patients while for the vast majority of procedures, Mr Pountos promotes same day discharge.
Mr Pountos has successfully completed 3 post-graduate degrees in the United Kingdom with special focus on ways to improve bone healing. He holds a h. Senior Lecturer position with the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Over the years, Mr Pountos has published over 55 articles and has over 50 presentations at numerous International meetings. For his work, Mr Pountos has competed and won 5 prestigious Prizes including the Best of the Best Paper from the Orthopaedic Trauma Association in 2015 and the twice the Best Paper from the British Trauma Society in 2006 and 2016.
